Poupak Mehrani is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Ottawa. She holds a Ph.D. (UBC, 2005) and a B.Sc. (UBC, 2000). She is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering. Her expertise lies in the area of multiphase reactor engineering with emphasis on gas-solid fluidized beds. Some recent projects have involved areas of research including biomass gasification and fast pyrolysis; CO2 capture from post- and pre-combustion processes; chemical looping combustion; Oxygen-fired pressurized coal combustion; and experimental work as well as CFD modeling of electrostatic charge generation in gas-solid fluidized beds.
