Dr. Nader Mahinpey

Dr. Mahinpey takes an active role in the promotion of national and international high-calibre research programs in CO2 capture area and alternative energy. In 2015, he was awarded the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Novel CO2 Capture Technologies for Oil Sands Operations.
His research involves the development of highly efficient and inexpensive solid sorbents and novel solvents for a wide range of flue gases. The ultimate purpose of his research program is the provision of the innovative technology needed to reach the demonstration stage with respect to a novel CO2 capture process and also thermochemical conversion of biomass feedstocks.
Energy and environment have become the two paramount themes in his research group. An understanding of global energy usage patterns, energy conservation, and the environmental impacts associated with the production and use of energy are very important in order to achieve sustainable development. He has been invited to international forums to make keynote addresses.
Dr. Mahinpey has been the principal investigator for many NSERC, governmental, and industrial grants. The fundamental study of Dr. Mahinpey’s research activities is transferred directly to his industry partners verified by many grant funding such as NSERC IRC, CRD, Engage, Engage plus, in addition to industrial consultation. Dr. Mahinpey has served as Member of Technical Advisory Group at different companies. He is on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Mahinpey has been the recipient of many awards in university, national and international levels.
